Martin attended the University of British Columbia where he majored in both psychology and philosophy. In 2014 he received his Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
After working as a research assistant with Dalhousie’s Health Law Institute, Martin joined the in-house legal team at Canada’s largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, as a student-at-law. He then returned to B.C. in early 2017 to marry his long-suffering wife and join the team at Robson, O’Connor LLP.
Martin has a keen interest in the intersection of mental health and the law. During his time at Dalhousie he obtained a specialization certificate in Health Law and Policy and conducted extensive research into issues surrounding involuntary psychiatric treatment across Canada and around the world.
In his work at Robson, O’Connor, Martin enjoys helping community members with their wills and estate planning and takes great pride in providing friendly and accessible assistance to executors and family members of individuals who have lost the capacity to manage their own affairs. He is also happy to be able to assist with family and business law issues.
When he is not buried in a law book, Martin loves getting out in nature, camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking whenever he gets the chance. He is also a member of the Ladysmith Rotary, Ladysmith Business Builders, and a Director of the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce.
